Ohio-based HVAC company, Detmer and Sons, was acquired by Ace Hardware in August. In an interview with North Dayton News, company vice president Matt Detmer said he is excited for the company's future and emphasized how the acquisition will help the company better serve the local community.

“Our partnership with Ace Hardware is a sign of great things to come,” Matt told North Dayton News. “We are dedicated to the customer experience, a hallmark of the Ace Hardware brand. Our experience and background, paired with the helpful spirit of Ace Hardware, will prove to be a winning combination.”

According to a company press release, Detmer and Sons is an HVAC services company, catering to both residential and commercial needs. The company's team of experienced technicians has an average employee tenure of more than 13 years and 400 training hours. Detmer and Sons specializes in the installation, repair, and maintenance of AC units, heating systems, geothermal solutions, and indoor air quality products. With a 98% overall customer satisfaction rating and a customer base of over 50,000, Detmer and Sons takes pride in its customer service reputation, aligning with the values of its new parent company, Ace Hardware.

Detmer and Sons joined the Ace family following its acquisition by Ace Hardware in August, per the press release. According to the company website, the partnership will offer a unique opportunity to redefine HVAC service in the Fairborn, Ohio region. Both companies are committed to providing HVAC products and services and aim to be the HVAC leader in the greater Dayton area.

Both companies expressed their desire to grow together and continue supporting the local community for years to come. According to the press release, Matt will continue to lead the business, with active involvement from his brother Eric. This collaboration will enable Detmer to leverage Ace's resources to provide a wider range of products at competitive prices.

Matt spoke about the founding of the company in 1978. His grandfather, Frank Detmer Sr., and father, Frank Detmer Jr., decided to start their own HVAC company after being in the industry for a while. Matt said he worked on and off for the company while in school until he started to go into the field on jobs. That is "where it turned into a passion," Matt said. "I eventually left my part-time firefighting position to pursue HVAC full-time as a technician in the field."

Detmer and Sons supports various charitable causes. The company contributes to local organizations such as Hospice of Dayton, Dayton Children's Hospital, and Gala of Hope. Matt highlighted its community engagement, extending support to initiatives like Little League teams and participating in charitable projects such as assisting with labor for Habitat for Humanity Homes and supporting initiatives like Shoes for the Shoeless.
