Englewood Ohio Police Department issued the following announcement on February 15.
Today, February 15, is School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, and we recognize our very own SRO, Officer Doug Hacker.
Officer Hacker joined EPD in October 2000, after serving with the Union Police Department. He has worn multiple hats during his time with us, including: bike patrol, evidence technician, field training officer, crash investigator/reconstructionist, firearms instructor and acting shift supervisor. But since January 2015, he has served as our School Resource Officer with Northmont City Schools.
SROs coordinate collaborative efforts by police agencies, law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and communities to create safe learning environments, provide valuable resources to school staff members, foster positive relationships with students and develop strategies to resolve problems that affect youth with the goal of protecting all children, so they can reach their fullest potential.
We thank Officer Hacker for his continued service and dedication to the students and staff at all our Englewood elementary schools!
