"Bootleggers and Rum Runners - Speakeasies and Scofflaws, the 1920's results of the Temperance and Prohibition Movements," is the topic to be presented by Tim Hrstar at The Vandalia Senior Center on Monday, July 11 at 1 p.m.

This free presentation is a part of the Summer History Speaker Series. Medigold will be providing snacks for all attendees.

The series is open to the public, but you must register in advance. It is for adults age 18 and over. Register by coming into the Vandalia Senior Center, by calling 937-898-1232 or by emailing twilliams@vandaliaohio.org

In this presentation, you'll learn how the 18th Amendment arrived in January, 1920, and quickly changed America. You'll peek into the Roaring Twenties where bootleggers, rum runners, and speakeasies made their way through the decade on a river of booze when it was against the law to manufacture, sell, or transport liquors. The law said nothing was illegal about drinking it!
